Read this before anything else. There are three real downsides to removing a speed limiter, and they matter:

• Legal: many regions set a legal maximum speed for e-scooters on public roads. Removing the limiter to exceed it can break local law and expose you to fines or liability.
• Warranty: modifying the scooter's firmware or hardware to bypass a limit typically voids the manufacturer warranty, so any later fault becomes your cost.
• Safety: budget foldable scooters are engineered around a designed top speed. Pushing beyond it strains the brakes, tyres, and frame, and raises stopping distance and crash severity, especially in traffic or wet conditions.
